Main Content
Without education, it is nearly impossible for one to appreciate, change, or be proactive in our ever-changing world. The National Estuarine Research Reserve System’s mission includes an emphasis on education, interpretation, and outreach. The Reserve System provides a vehicle to increase understanding and awareness of estuarine systems and improve decision-making among key audiences to promote stewardship of the nation’s coastal resources.
To meet our education and outreach goals, we provide a variety of educational opportunities. The JC NERR conducts education and outreach programs tailored to a variety of diverse audiences such as educators, students, environmental professionals, resource users and the general public. Our education programs and interpretive spaces integrate elements of Reserve System science, research and monitoring activities to ensure a systematic, multi-faceted, and locally focused approach to fostering stewardship.
